The Safe School Officer is committed to acting within the law to proactively prevent and respond to active assailant incidents on school premises or during school-sponsored events. This role is critical in maintaining a secure learning environment and ensuring the safety of students, staff, and visitors. The Safe School Officer’s duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting Regular Patrols: Monitoring school grounds, entrances, educational or ancillary facilities to identify and address potential security threats.
  • Implementing Security Protocols: Enforcing established safety procedures, including visitor check-ins, lockdown drills, and emergency response plans.
  • Assessing Threats: Observing and reporting suspicious behavior, and collaborating with school administration and local law enforcement to assess and manage potential risks.
  • Providing Immediate Response: Acting swiftly and appropriately in the event of an active assailant or other emergency situation, following all legal and procedural guidelines.
  • Maintaining Detailed Records: Documenting incidents, interventions, and observations to support ongoing safety improvements and compliance with legal requirements.
